Filmmaker Gary Hustwit's most celebrated work is
Helvetica, a documentary film about, yes, the typeface. His new project,
Objectified, looks very promising. I couldn't help noticing that all the voices, and very nearly all the designers pictured, were male . . . perhaps because the "objects" chosen as salient were mostly technological devices. It will be interesting to see how broadly the final film explores the range of objects that actually shape our horizons.
